Late last year, Nigerian Musician Burna Boy got himself a very special set of wheels. I say ‘very special’ because the car brand in question is one that is considered the pinnacle of automotive engineering. Without further ado, I introduce to you the first and only Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) from Ferrari so far, the Ferrari Purosangue. One would have thought that after purchasing a Purosangue for close to a million dollars (approximately 1.4 billion naira), Burna Boy would sit back and relax. But the musician seems to just be getting started, as he has purchased yet another Ferrari.

Burna Boy seems to be a huge fan of Ferraris as this will be his third. He previously owned a Ferrari 458 Italia before the Purosangue and now a vintage Ferrari. From picture evidence, I deduce that Burna Boy’s new Ferrari is a 1985-1989 Ferrari 328 GTS. However, sources on the internet allude to it being a 1988 Ferrari 328 GTB which is plausible, except for the fact that the GTB is not a convertible. The GTS, on the other hand, is a convertible version of the GTB, making it more likely.
Burna Boy’s 1985-1989 Ferrari 328 GTS

Burna Boy seems to know a thing or two about his Ferraris as his picks have been commendable. The 328 debuted in 1985 to replace the older and less powerful Ferrari 308 model. Moving straight to the part that most are concerned with—pricing—the 328 GTS is not one of the very rare and sought-after Ferraris. Hence, it is not as pricey as some other vintage Ferraris. According to classics.com, the 328 auctions for an average of 100,981 USD (approximately 152 million naira). Online sources once again claim that Burna Boy got his 328 GTS for 2 million euros (approximately 3 billion naira), which is very unlikely but nothing has been confirmed by Burna Boy himself.
Overall Performance and Outlook of the 328 GTS
The 328 GTS comes with a 3.2 liter V8 engine paired with a five-speed manual gearbox that produces 270 horsepower. All 270 of those horses are sent to the rear wheels, propelling it from 0 – 60mph in about 5.5 seconds. It also has a top speed of 166 mph (267 km/h), which is more than enough for Burna Boy to cruise down the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge.

Burna Boy’s 328 GTS comes in a red color specifically known as Rosso Corsa red. As for the interior, it is adorned with vintage beige leather. The car also contains a lot of digital buttons and knobs, which is typical to its time of production.
All round, the 328 GTS is a pretty decent pick. Burna Boy must have done his homework before purchasing this car and it shows. The 328 GTS has been spotted a couple times tearing up the streets of Lagos and I hope that this continues. Some people buy vintage cars, only to store them away, waiting for these classics to appreciate in value. We can only hope that Burna Boy is not one of those vehicle hoarders.
