The Tesla Cybertruck is one vehicle that easily stands out and can’t be mistaken for another. In recent times, it has become more of a status symbol among the elite, even in Nigeria. There have been a couple of Cybertruck sightings in Abuja, Lagos and of recent in Ibadan. The Cybertruck is simply in a class of its own with all the hype around it. However, the famed Cybertruck has just been recalled yet again and for the 8th time since its debut.
What is the Recall About?
The recall affects almost all Cybertrucks that have been produced, 46,096 in number. The cause of the recall this time involves an exterior trim piece called the ‘cant rail’, which is joined to the truck’s steel structure with an adhesive that’s prone to ‘environmental embrittlement,’ according to a recall report that Tesla submitted to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The report goes on to say that the Cybertruck’s stainless-steel body panel can delaminate and separate from the rest of the vehicle, possibly landing on the road and creating a hazard for other drivers.

Lest we forget that the Tesla Cybertruck body panels are bulletproof. This means that they are very strong and if they were to fly off on the highway, the result could be disastrous. Tesla says it will replace the cant rail assembly at no charge to remedy the issue. This means that Cybertruck owners would not have to pay a dime for the fix. But, what about the Cybertrucks in Nigeria?
To the best of my knowledge, there are no official Tesla repair shops in Nigeria. What it boils down to, is that the Teslas in Nigeria would probably have to be shipped back to the States in order to benefit from the free repairs, if they are affected by this recall. I guess these are the perks of owning a high-end and rare vehicle in Nigeria. But I mean, if you can afford a Tesla Cybertruck, you can probably also afford the shipping fees for repairs lol. What are your thoughts on the Cybertruck recall? Eight recalls is a lot for a car that has only been around for a little over a year. So, should we be worried about the durability of said vehicle? Let us discuss in the comments.
